Our workshops and training opportunities shake things up, aiming to unearth and celebrate the unique strengths of each individual. By uniting everyone's exceptional skills and talents, we create a powerful sense of unity, creating something truly meaningful as a group.
"I first had contact with this remarkable company way back in April 2012. I was invited to a workshop held at Dolgellau Rugby Club. Here I found myself surrounded by the most amazing people. I have attended several workshops since and participated with groups of incredibly brave women learning to trust each other.
In this safe environment, self-expression is encouraged by using movement, words and music. Imagination and spontaneity are essential tools in creating. In order to create these works of art, support and trust are needed from every member of the group."
Voices and choices
The Voices and Choices project was an Anti-Gang Violence and Anti-Bullying Transition Project for Primary Schools that taught children in Years 5 and Year 6 the importance of choosing positive role models, being positive role models themselves and actively contributing to their school community.
The project was developed to provide a safe and inclusive environment for practical exploration through performing arts workshops. It allowed students to delve into various issues, including:
Survivors
Funded by the National Lottery of Wales, Survivors was a long-term outreach project that worked with victims of domestic abuse throughout Wales.
Over an 18-month period, the project targeted eight specific areas of Wales. In collaboration with Creu Cymru (Theatre development agency for Wales), regional theatres, and social services, the project combined workshops, verbatim theatre, and creative development to explore and narrate the real stories of the participants involved.
As part of the process, a performance of Chickenshed's production "In the Absence of Silence" was presented. This powerful theatre piece was developed from the initial pilot project, which collaborated with refugees and services in and around Harlech, with the support of the South Gwynedd Domestic Abuse services.
Navigating the Twilight
Navigating the Twilight was an innovative way of providing thought-provoking training to professionals who cared for people affected by dementia. This three-hour workshop combined active engagement and reflective sessions.
The course was led by our experienced course leader and assisted by a team of inclusive Chickenshed practitioners. Participants also had the opportunity to work alongside our students who had a range of different backgrounds and abilities.
