BTEC Level 3 Course Structure
This course is a two-year level 3 full time course, nationally recognised as an equivalent to three A Levels. The National Extended Diploma is nationally recognised as an accredited progression route into Higher Education study at university, drama school and other Higher Education provisions.
Our students explore music, dance, drama, musical theatre, production and related subjects through a series of core and optional units. On this full time course, as a student you attend approximately 18 hours of lessons and practical sessions each week at Chickenshed. You also gain relevant, practical experience of inclusive theatre, within and alongside your programme of study.
At the end of the course, you'll have a sound grounding in all the disciplines which make up the performing arts. Our Level 3 delivery has been highly commended by external examiners for its quality, inclusivity and imaginative provision. We believe that everyone should be able to access further education. So while most Level 3 courses need 4 or 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or equivalent, Chickenshed will also look at an applicant's other related experience, and their enthusiasm and potential ability to commit to and achieve on the course as an alternative to strict entry criteria. This is an essential element of our inclusive philosophy.
